Minister scraps most civil service assessment measures in new draft bill
Public sector workers will be rewarded for their performance in a vote by their colleagues and personal interviews will play a secondary role to career records, according to a bill being drafted by Alternate Minister for Administrative Reform Giorgos Katrougalos, doing away with many of the assessment measures introduced by the previous government.
According to the draft, which is slated for completion by early May, education and career records will form the basis for public sector hirings and promotions, together with written exams, while personal interviews may be scrapped completely.
Katrougalos also foresees department heads being selected mainly on the strength of their formal qualifications, such as education level, prior experience etc, and less so on the basis of their interview performance. |
